To all employees. Any and all concerns regarding health and safety (Denied water, denied bathroom, near misses, or any incident which could lead to an injury) Must be reported first to management, always follow up to ensure it has been documented in the Hazard assessment binder/ incident report which are located at every checkpoint at the Managers podium. These concerns will then be forwarded to the health and safety committee. The names and emails of all health and safety representatives are posted in the lunchroom, and in the search room of every checkpoint.
Steps of the process
1.Submit a complaint to a supervisor/manager: report it in the assessment binder/incident report and then submit a copy of it to any of the members of the elected health and safety team via email.
2.Investigation of complaint: If a concern is unable to be resolved with the supervisor then submit it to the H&S team to begin the formal Internal Complaint Resolution Process. Regardless if a concern is resolved it is important that it is still reported, to document the concern and what the resolution was, if any. If no resolution is agreed upon, concerns will be escalated to the chairperson of the H&S committee.
Workers are protected from losing their job or from being disciplined when they report. Many screening officers are scared or intimidated into not voicing their concerns or complaints but unless these incidents and concerns are reported we cannot have them formally addressed and resolved.
